Dan Boatright-Greene launches campaign to win West Worcestershire
In 2024, Dan Boatright-Greene came second in West Worcestershire and cut the Conservative majority to just 6,500. Now he is launching the campaign to go one step further and win.
Local councillor, former teacher and Liberal Democrat campaigner Dan Boatright-Greene has launched his campaign to become West Worcestershire’s next MP.
Dan has been re-selected as the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire after standing in the 2024 General Election, where he came second and cut the Conservative majority from around 24,500 to just 6,500.
The launch marks the start of the next phase of the campaign, with local Liberal Democrats setting out their plans to build the team, raise the funds and speak to residents across every part of West Worcestershire.
Dan lives just outside Pershore and represents the area as a District and County Councillor. He is also Leader of the Liberal Democrat group at Worcestershire County Council and has taken on responsibility for Education, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and Skills.
Before entering politics, Dan worked as a teacher, including in communities facing some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country. His experience in education has shaped his campaigning on schools, colleges, SEND support and opportunities for young people.
Dan said:
“West Worcestershire deserves an MP who listens, works hard all year round, and puts our towns and villages first.
“In 2024, we showed that West Worcestershire can change. We came second, cut a huge Conservative majority, and built support right across the constituency.
“Now the work starts to go further. We need to build the campaign early, speak to more residents, raise the money we need, and show people that the Liberal Democrats can win here.
“From NHS dentistry and GP access, to SEND support, schools, rural transport, clean rivers, flooding, farming and local services, I will keep fighting for the issues that matter to people across West Worcestershire.”
The campaign will focus on Dan’s record as a hard-working local councillor and community campaigner, alongside the Liberal Democrats’ commitment to better health and care, stronger local services, a fair deal for towns and villages, and protecting the local environment.
Local Liberal Democrats are also launching the West Worcestershire Winning Fund, which will help pay for campaign literature, events, volunteer organising, digital campaigning and year-round contact with residents.
A spokesperson for West Worcestershire Liberal Democrats said:
“Dan is rooted in this community, has a strong record of standing up for residents, and has already shown that he can build the support needed to win here.
“The 2024 result proved that West Worcestershire is now a serious opportunity for the Liberal Democrats. But winning next time will take early organisation, a bigger volunteer team and the funds to campaign across a large rural constituency.
“That is why we are asking everyone who wants change in West Worcestershire to get involved now.”
The party is encouraging residents, members and supporters to take three simple actions: volunteer for the campaign, donate to the Winning Fund, and tell Dan about the local issues that matter most to them.
Dan added:
“This campaign will be about listening as much as speaking. I want to hear from residents in Pershore, Malvern, Upton, Tenbury, our villages and rural communities about what they want from their next MP.
“If you want a hard-working local MP who will stand up for West Worcestershire all year round, please join our campaign.”
