Worcestershire Liberal Democrats are calling for Reform UK to step aside at Worcestershire County Council after two councillors were suspended from the party, one of whom is the current leader of the council.

Reform UK have lost four councillors since being elected in May 2025, including a former deputy leader of the council who resigned on TV and a councillor who never attended a meeting. The latest two include the leader of the council and another who has just been elected to the Redditch Borough Council days ago.

Leader of Worcestershire County Council Liberal Democrats says: “This must end. The council is in turmoil, near financial ruin and paralysed by inaction. Reform UK have clearly no idea what they are doing. Nigel Farage is calling the council a basket case and is even trying to distance himself from any of their decision-making.”

“It is time for those who can, to come together. To find a way forward and get an administration that is working for residents, not fighting amongst itself. Reform UK have lost control, lost confidence and cannot find a way to get a leader elected. We are willing to talk to everyone at this stage to find a way to get an administration that works for everyone. No one has a majority and we need to put politics aside and work together.”
