Worcestershire Lib Dems call on Labour to ‘end this soap opera’ as Prime Minister resigns

Following the resignation of Keir Starmer today (Monday, 22 June) as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party, Worcestershire Liberal Democrats are calling for a fundamental shift in British politics.

The Lib Dem parliamentary spokesperson for West Worcestershire, Dan Boatright-Greene has called for an end to the “soap opera” in Number 10, as the UK faces its 7th Prime Minister in just 10 years.

Dan Boatright-Greene says Labour are continuing the Conservatives’ legacy of chaos and instability in its leadership, and the British public deserves better.

The Liberal Democrats are urging Keir Starmer’s successor to create real change for local people on the cost of living and the NHS.

Responding to Keir Starmer’s resignation, Dan Boatright-Greene said:

“People across Worcestershire and the country are sick of being let down by an endless merry-go-round of Prime Ministers, while nothing really changes for them.

“Labour promised change, but we’ve ended up with the same old chaos as under the Conservatives.

“It’s time to end this Westminster soap opera and get on with delivering positive change for people in our community.

"That means tackling soaring bills to put money back in people’s pockets and fixing the NHS so people can get an appointment when they need to.

"Whoever becomes Prime Minister needs to end the chaos and focus on getting the country back on track.”
